1. About the University and using this site
Hi there! Thanks for dropping by, it’s great to have you on our site! There are a few house rules while you’re here. The first thing to say is that we’ve put some information about the University of Warwick at the bottom of the page, should you need it.
It’s worth mentioning that, by using the IGGY website, you’re indicating that you agree with all of these terms and conditions and will stick to them.
If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site!
We should also point out that some IGGY services have extra Ts & Cs attached. These extra terms will be stated on whichever page it is that they apply too. If there’s a contradiction between those terms and these, always assume that the service-specific terms are the ones to stick to.
Don’t worry, we won’t use your details for anything other than your IGGY membership.
2. Accessing and using the site
While this site is made available by us, you can use it as much as you like. We’re allowed to remove or change anything on the site without giving notice and, unfortunately, you can’t blame us if the site is unavailable at any time, for however long it might be.
Your login details are for personal use, so keep your password, username and any other security information to yourself. If you make this information public, we can disable any username or password at any time.
You can use this site for personal and noncommercial things or for any non-commercial educational uses. Of course, you can print off a copy of anything on the site for personal use, but just the one.
There's a long list of things you may not do with our content. Please do not (brace yourself) modify, copy, distribute, transmit, display, perform, reproduce, publish, license, create derivative works from, transfer or sell any content obtained from our website, except for any copying, distribution or reproduction that is strictly necessary for any personal or noncommercial educational use. (Told you it was long!)
If you use any material from the site, just make sure you refer to the University of Warwick and any other contributor acknowledged as the copyright owner.
If you want to use any of the sites materials, pop an email over to email@example.com to get permission first.
3. Intellectual Property Rights
The trademarks and logos on the site, like ‘Warwick University’ or the IGGY logo, are ours, along with the software that makes up IGGY. They’re protected by intellectual property rights and any other related rights all around the world that are owned by the University of Warwick or its licensors. You can’t copy this website in any form (electronically or otherwise) without getting permission in writing first.
Remember that you’re not allowed to change any of the materials, paper or digital, that you’ve downloaded from the site. Using illustrations, photos, video, audio and graphics separately from their original accompanying text is off the cards too.
If you don’t follow these rules when you print off, copy or download anything on site, you’ll lose the right to use IGGY, and must return, destroy or delete any copies you’ve made from the site. Sounds harsh, but it’s IGGY’s content that makes it great!
In anything you do use, make sure you point out that we (and anybody identified as an author) created it.
4. Website Postings by You
Of course, you still own the copyright on anything you post, and our rights to it aren’t exclusive, it just means that we can use it if we want to. It’s still all yours!
If you don’t want to let us use your stuff and the things you post, please don’t contribute to the site.
If you do post, you’re confirming that the things you have posted are your own, original work and that you have the right to let us use it.
Also, if you mention anyone in your posts, you need to get their permission, or their parents permission if they’re under 16.
Of course, there are some definite no-no’s when you’re uploading content so make sure you don’t post anything connected to or including the following:
- Malware or viruses
- Illegal, threatening, abusive, offensive, pornographic, harmful, defamatory content and nothing that infringes on the privacy or rights of anyone.
- Advertising or marketing
Trying to disable, overburden, alter or impair the content or functioning of the site.
Remember that if you’re under 16 you’ll need to get permission from parents to post on the site.
We can’t be held responsible for the contents or accuracy of anything that you or anybody else posts either.
It’s probably best not to let any personal information slip on the site, so don’t go posting your telephone number or address anywhere!
If we think that any of your content breaches these rules, we can, and will remove it from the site. If we do this, we’ll always get in touch and let you know why.
Be aware that if any third party claims that material posted or uploaded by you to our site violates their intellectual property rights, we can disclose your identity to them.
5. Links to and from Third Party Sites
The IGGY site might contain links to websites run by people who aren’t connected to IGGY at all. We can’t control the way these sites work so we’d like to warn you to be careful which ones you open. The University of Warwick doesn’t endorse these sites, and we can’t be held responsible for any damage or loss they might cause you.
If you want to provide a link to IGGY, make sure that it goes to a full, unchanged page. IGGY pages shouldn’t appear within the pages of any other sites. When you’re linking, make sure you do it in a way that is fair (and legal!) and doesn’t damage or take advantage of our reputation.
Please, don’t use a link to suggest any sort of association, approval or endorsement on our part if there isn’t any. We’re proud of all our members, but don’t take advantage of it!
You can link to our site from your own, but please don’t link to the IGGY site from any website that you don’t own. The website you link from needs to make sure it follows the rules set out above in section 4.
We can withdraw permission to link to IGGY whenever we like.
Please, don’t frame IGGY on any other site.
We’ll try to update IGGY as much as we can and might change the content at any time. If we really, really need to, we can suspend access to IGGY or close it indefinitely. We’ll try our best to make sure all of the information that we provide for you is up to date, but we can’t always guarantee it.
7. Information about you
8. Our Liability
We’re not responsible for any of the content that the public post on IGGY. Any views they express are their own, and not those of the University of Warwick.
Anything you see on IGGY that is provided by us is given on an ‘as is’ basis. We can’t guarantee its accuracy and exclude all representations and warranties, whether express or implied by law, subject to 8.7 and to the extent allowed by the law.
As the website is free of charge, if you get yourself into trouble using it or its content, subject to 8.7, we’re not liable to you (in contract, tort (including negligence) or otherwise) unless you purchase anything from the site.
If you do purchase anything from the IGGY site, our liability (in contract, tort (including negligence) or otherwise) is limited to whatever you paid for your purchase.
Subject to 8.7, we can’t accept liability for indirect, special or consequential losses, including profits, revenue, contracts, data or goodwill.
None of this affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
Nothing here will stop us being liable for death or personal injury caused by our uselessness, negligence or us being to blame for fraudulent misrepresentation or misrepresentation of a fundamental matter. It doesn’t get us out of anything else that it would be illegal for us to try and get ourselves out of with terms and conditions.
9. Other Matters
If any of these terms are unenforceable, it will not void any of the others.
These terms, and anything that we mentioned in them earlier, constitute the whole of the agreement between you and IGGY.
